The Greyhound is a hugely popular pub for both tourists and locals alike. Their ethos is very simple, to serve great value, fresh affordable food in a comfortable non pretentious and very cosy atmosphere and to make every visitor feel very welcome....It is clearly evident that they are very successful because they get huge numbers of visitors and they also feature regularly in the Daily The Telegraph and The Times. This is a must visit pub....

Further Details

More about us.

The Greyhound at Corfe Castle, is nestled in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck between Swanage and Lulworth Cove on the Jurassic Coastal path. It is easily reached via the Swanage Steam Railway or the Sandbanks Car ferry to Studland Bay and is a family friendly traditional old English Country pub specialising in fresh local food, real ales and traditional ciders and they are very passionate about food; their numerous food and ale festivals are tribute to their celebration of it.

The building.

Spectacularly situated under the gaze of the castle, it is commonly referred to as the most photographed pub in Britain, with good reason. It gives you a real feel for the 15th century village that is Corfe Castle.

The original Purbeck Stone built building is a eclectic mix with old and new. It dates back to fifteenth century and is steeped in history and character. Boasting solid oak and purbeck stone floors, modern leather and teak chairs and wonderful visual art by well known photographers and artists it is very unique and like stepping back in time. And the world you will enter is one of relaxed tranquility and that is what the Greyhound provides, great food, a lovely laid back relaxed ambiance where you can sit and enjoy the tranquility or engage in the friendly banter with the staff. It is many things and all of them good.

Corfe village.

It is an ideal location to car park your vehicle and explore magnificent cliff top walks, the sandy beaches and natural rugged coastal path leading to both Lulworth and Swanage Bay and when you return, there is a nice warm welcome waiting for you at the Greyhound Inn.

What other people say.

The best acolade for any dining experience is from the guests who have visited us so we thought it would be a nice touch to show you what some of them have said.

"A charming 16 century coaching Inn, flagstones worn smooth by campers, ramblers and day trippers with a great selection of seafood, four or five guest beers and a modest menu selection which reflects a simpler age, Enid Blyton would have approved." - The Telegraph Weekend - Jonathan Goodhall.

"A warm and welcoming place with well prepared, fresh good food which got the thumbs up from us all - although, the washer up may have been unsure whether to wash our plates or just put them away, so scraped clean they were !!" - Dorset Magazine - Sheryl Bamford.
